As part of our continued promotion of sport within Carmarthenshire schools and the community we have linked the 2 in a recent event.
To help highlight the fantastic facility that is Dinefwr Bowls club and promote the sport of bowls to local children we recently ran a festival which gave local schools the opportunity to come, and experience playing bowls and be coached by club members.
Over the course of the day over 120 pupils from the local area came across to take part in a range of activities in line with the sport of bowls. Some activities delivered by Actif Communities officers and bowls specific sessions within the centre taken by volunteers who gave up their spare time to promote the sport.
The main focus of this event was to;
- Highlight the diversity in sports available to Carmarthenshire Children
- Promote the intergenerational focus and get all ages enjoying sport together
- Signpost to further events and sessions run by the club
- Encourage use of the facility
- Gain members to help sustain the bowls club and develop the junior section
As a continuation to these sessions and to ensure sustainability and access to all, Dinefwr Bowls Club offered free family sessions throughout the summer holidays allowing children and their parents to come and have a go, see when sessions run, and experience the facility.
