As part of the Welsh Government’s Healthy Weight Healthy Wales (HWHW) Action Plan 2020-2022, Sport Wales is responsible for investing £1.3 million over the next 15 months into national leisure offer for over 60s which will encourage physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices. Actif Sport and Leisure have been allocated funding to deliver a specific 60+ programme for 2021-22.
The aim of our programme Actif 60+ is to provide existing and future Actif Sport & Leisure customers and service users (aged 60+) the opportunity to re-engage with, or experience for the first time, a timetable of activities delivered in our facilities, online and in our communities that will help them start and live a healthy lifestyle.
The offer will include:
8 weeks free membership to all our leisure centres* (gyms; classes and swimming) along with 8 weeks free membership to our digital platform ‘Actif Anywhere’ (20+ online classes currently available per week) and 8 weeks free membership to all our community-based programmes* e.g. walking sports activities.
8 weeks 50% subsidy to all our leisure centres* (gyms; classes and swimming) along with 8 weeks 50% subsidy membership to our digital platform ‘Actif Anywhere’ and 8 weeks 50% subsidy membership to all our community-based programmes*
Once the above 16 weeks has been completed, full access to the leisure centres, digital platform Actif Anywhere and community activities will be at full cost.
*subject to welsh government guidance/announcements relating to lockdown. Some activities or facilities may be unavailable.
A ‘soft’ launch of our Actif 60+ offer will be promoted soon.
Customers will be able to take up the offer throughout the year, meaning that there is no pressure to start the first 8 week by a certain date.
Customers will only be eligible to have one 8-week free period and one 8-week at 50% period during 2021-22.
The 16 weeks (8 week free and 8 week 50%) must follow each other with no break.
Following last week’s announcement, Welsh Government have confirmed that outdoor sports facilities will be allowed to open. Organised outdoor activity for young people (18 and under) can restart from Saturday the 27 March.
