Fitness development projects

  1. Llandovery Swimming Pool becomes a leisure centre – exciting news

A school reorganisation in Llandovery has led to space and a £350k grant being made available to transform a wing of the old ‘Ysgol Pantycelin’ site into Actif’s new gym and studio, plus use of a community room, hall and MUGA evenings and weekends enabling us to provide a full LC offer to the community.

The name of the centre with also change to Llandovery Leisure Centre and we have purchased new state of the art Life Fitness equipment and ICG spin bikes to bring the total investment to almost half a million pound. Works are nearing completion at the centre and expect to open the facility in April. We will be installing the MyRide ICG Connect system to accompany the new spin bikes to further enhance the training experience for our customers.

  1. Fitness at Newcastle Emlyn Leisure Centre gets an overhaul

Another positive development is that Actif have purchased state of the art Life Fitness equipment and ICG spin bikes to undertake a full fitness refurbishment at Newcastle Emlyn Leisure Centre – a long overdue investment we know. The investment will provide our customers with a wider range of equipment across all key aspects; cardiovascular, strength training and functional training. We will be installing the MyRide ICG Connect system to accompany the new spin bikes to further enhance the training experience for our customers.

Positive discussions are also underway to enhance the membership offer – watch this space!

  1. St Clears Leisure Centre major spin upgrade

St Clears LC will see a major improvement to their spin bike sessions as a suite of sector leading IC6 bikes will land at site shortly, along with the MyRide ICG Connect system to accompany to further enhance the training experience for our customers.

This will enable the virtual sessions that some of our other sites have been benefitting from, including ‘coach-by-colour’ to revolutionise the way we spin, and increasing the number of classes available.

Further digital enhancement to our Actif facilities

One of the positives to come out of a challenging 2020 was the enhancements in digital technology.

In the summer of 2020, we launched our new Live Stream digital platform called Actif Anywhere, which aims to expand the reach of Actif to provide high quality opportunities to be active to individuals across the whole life course – at home, at work, outside…anywhere! We are currently delivering around 30 sessions each week between fitness, health, and Actif Communities. Customers can access the service via any smart phone/TV, laptop, laptop, etc. Incorporating bilingualism to all sessions and some Welsh-specific sessions, this really is the local platform with global reach.

Further digital enhancement we are keen to implement in the coming months include new/upgrades to sounds systems, lighting and TV screens within all facilities to ensure we offer our customers a high quality experience and are able to promote our services to prospective customers.
